What happens
You call
Phones answered 24 hours a day, every day. You may hear a short recorded message first.
A company answers
You speak with an independent cleanup company, or with a service that puts you through to one. You will be asked for your ZIP code so the call reaches a company that works where you are.
Describe it
Say what happened, which rooms or which vehicle, and whether police have released it.
Decide
They explain what they would do and may arrange a visit. Whether to hire them is up to you.
Questions to ask the company
- Are you insured for this work, and can you send proof?
- What will you remove, and will you list it for me first?
- Which disinfectant will you use, and what is its EPA registration number?
- Who hauls the medical waste, and are they on the Florida Department of Health's list?
- Will I get the price in writing before you start?
- Have you done jobs paid by insurance or victim compensation, and how did billing work?
The Department of Health keeps a list of registered biomedical waste transporters and will confirm one that is not on it (Florida Department of Health). Use it to check the company you are hiring, not as a place to shop.
How this site is paid
This site may be paid when a call leads to a booked job. Any payment comes from the cleanup company or from the referral network it works with. You pay nothing to this site.
The company is independent, so check it as you would any contractor. The referral disclosure has the full wording.
